EducationI have a PhD in Anthropology from UC Santa Cruz and an MA in Anthropology from San Francisco State University. My undergraduate degree in Psychology is also from San Francisco State University.
ExperienceI have a great love of teaching that includes Elementary School, Middle School and undergraduate college level courses. I have found that students repeatedly take my classroom offerings and generally increase their academic standings by a year for every semester we work together. This is very gratifying to me. My professional work as an anthropologist, teacher, writer and consultant has provided me with a broad range of skills that encourage an active level of classroom interest on the part of my students. I also work to engage my students’ families in the process of learning and personal growth. Teaching is a real pleasure for me. My work as an anthropologist with Native Americans and my hobby of slight of hand magic each contribute in their own way to a friendly, interesting and engaging learning environment.
HobbiesMy hobbies include stone tool manufacture, Native American culture, coin collecting, astronomy, close up magic, chess, fishing, and archaeological interests. I take great pleasure in walking through the woods and looking closely at the nature of the country around me.
