Hobbies

I'm Farzin F., a 25 year old male with a true passion for mathematics and sciences. I have been tutoring for 4 years now and have had great success with my students, ranging from high school to college-age, and international students. I began tutoring when I became a member of the Math Science Engineering Achievement program (MESA) at American River College. I worked as a math, chemistry and biology tutor. I transferred to University of California Davis and continued my education there. I majored in Neurobiology Physiology and Behavior which provided me a foundation for lifelong learning by fostering intellectual curiosity, problem solving and critical thinking skills, in the context of understanding organismal animal (including human) biology. In UC Davis, I worked as a private tutor, tutoring college students in general chemistry, organic chemistry, math and physiology. I prefer one-on-one tutoring and enjoy engaging my students with fun and challenging problems to prepare them well for their exams. In addition, I like to apply math to real world situations to allow my students to fully understand the relevance and necessity of knowing and using math in their everyday lives. My approach to teaching students is simple. Most math instruction involves a lengthy discussion of the abstract theory behind the Math before instructing the student in how to solve problems. While this style of teaching has its own benefits, in the vast majority of the cases the student quickly gets bored and frustrated by the time he or she starts to solve the problems. In contrast, I teach all of the concepts by working problems step-by-step, which is a much more engaging way to learn. Please contact me about any questions you may have, and I am looking forward to working with you to reaching your GPA and test score goals.
