Experience

Thank you for your interest in my profile! I have thousands of hours of tutoring experience from several years working with students of many different ages in all levels of study. I know how it feels when a class has you hopelessly lost and the text seems to be addressed more for the professor than for you, the learner. Therefore I put tremendous effort into working with anyone, no matter their aptitude, to build with them their own firm understanding of what they need to know. Some professors and teachers may not take enough care to address student learning, and may have a tenuous grasp of how material may be difficult for a student to digest. This can make a course more difficult than it needs to be, especially when a student is learning several subjects simultaneously. Often as a last-ditch effort, the student will go to a tutor, hoping for some alleviation. My devotion to helping others learn makes me an exceptional tutor. It is paramount for the teacher to instill a drive for further understanding in the learner. This can't happen if the learner hated learning! For this reason, I not only guide students to academic success but also strive to ensure an enjoyable learning experience and a sense of accomplishment for the student. I believe altruism is an imperative quality for a tutor to have. I truly enjoy and take pride in helping others learn. I have a natural talent for coaching development of independent critical thought and understanding of subject material. I prefer to teach tailored to an individual's learning style by discussing and observing how he or she grasps knowledge most effectively, then packaging the knowledge for that individual in a fun and interesting way that makes the most cognitive sense for him or her.
