I am an honors student at Sacramento City college as a History major specializing in English, Journalism, Philosophy and Anthropology. Much of my education has come outside of the standard campus setting, but it has been rigorous enough to help me maintain a 4.0 GPA in Honors classes, and lifetime membership in Phi Theta Kappa. I have won several awards and scholarships as well.
Experience
I have worked as a writing and English tutor at Sacramento City College since 2008; since 2010 I have been an Instructional Assistant, tutoring students and helping train and monitor a staff of student tutors. I have recent experience in relevant classes from across the humanities spectrum. In 2009, I presented a paper at the PTK Honors Research Symposium at Stanford University. Reynolds scholarship for poetry.

Hobbies
I read, write, garden, hike and love pets. I value people and relationships over things and ownership. I read and write for pleasure, and as a tutor my first aim is help students discover pleasure in whatever work is in front of them. I first began teaching/tutoring when my mother paid me ten cents a book to read for my little brother. Since then I have worked with hundreds of poets as a mentor and teacher, hundreds of college students on academic topics, and privately with high school students from different backgrounds and with goals ranging from fundamental motivation to perfecting already competent skill levels for students planning to take SATs.
