Experience
I earned my bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Southern California. Over the years I have worked with students of all ages to help them improve their skills. I've been an assistant teacher in a math and reading academy where I was able to work with grade school children. As a college student I worked with inner-city students in a specialty program where I learned to design effective lesson plans that included academic lessons and real world experiential content. My primary focus as a tutor is math and science. Some of the courses I tutor include algebra 1 & 2, calculus 1-3, differential equations, geometry, elementary math, middle school math, pre-calculus, trigonometry, physics, writing, competition math, multivariable calculus, arithmetic, finite mathematics, mechanical engineering, pre-algebra, public speaking, and English. My teaching philosophy all comes down to instilling a love of learning in those I work with. I take my time to really get to know each child so that I have a clear picture of their academic strengths and weaknesses as well as their personality and interests. This allows me to narrow down the concepts they are struggling with and introduce new ways to help them conceptualize the content in a way that makes it more easily accessible to them.
