Private tutor in Sacramento, CA
UC Santa Cruz - BS, Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology
I am an enthusiastic tutor with a passion for science and a drive to see students succeed. There is no doubt in my mind that a student finds appreciation for a subject from a teacher who is also eager to share information. My tutoring style involves building a strong foundation using the basics, employing the use of visual aids, and creating the opportunity to build analytical skills. I believe that by using all three of these methods, a student can retain knowledge that will last a lifetime. I hold a bachelor's degree in molecular, cell, and developmental biology from the University of California-Santa Cruz. More recently, I have begun working with high school and college students as a teaching assistant. Being a teaching assistant has allowed me to have many responsibilities in the classroom. I have graded work submitted by the students, offered feedback, taught scientific writing skills, and assisted students by making sure they met the professor's guidelines. Because of this position, I have experience working with a variety of students and skill levels, which I feel is a great asset that comes with tutoring. When I'm not in the classroom, I spend my spare time catching up on the latest discoveries by reading scientific journals. I also enjoy spending time with my friends and being involved in outdoor activities.
