Lauren Y.
Private tutor in Sacramento, CA
Education
I received a BA from the UCSC in 2013, with a double major in History and English Language Studies. I then went overseas to Scotland and received an MA (MLitt) from the University of Aberdeen in 2014 in Medieval and Early Modern Studies. I continued on to research for two years at the University of St Andrews and intend to study for my doctorate at one of the UCs in the following fall.
Experience
I have not tutored before per se, but I have worked as an instructor's assistant for an introductory writing course at UCSC and as an instructor's assistant for k-12 special needs. I honestly don't remember my SAT scores, it's been so long. I do hold an IB diploma and AP US history scores (though I don't remember them. I want to be a tutor because I want to gain the experience teaching and being involved in education. Relevant courses pretty much involve my entire academic career, but the ones I enjoyed the most: English Literature Canon I, English Novel Studies, Shakespeare seminar, Milton seminar, Literature and Culture to 1740. History of Time seminar, English History I and II, Scottish History, Renaissance Literature/Culture and the Conception of the Living seminar and -though not exactly relevant but I enjoyed it - History/Culture of Espionage. Some of my awards/honours: M.Litt Honours University of Aberdeen 2014 Honours in History BA UCSC 2013 Dean's Undergraduate Award UCSC 2013 Humanities Undergraduate Research Award UCSC 2012- 2013 Dean's List Honour Society UCSC 2013
