Kristel C.
Private tutor in Sacramento, CA
Education
I received my Bachelors of Science in 2012 in Physiological Sciences from the University of California, Los Angeles. In 2016, I was awarded my Masters of Science in Integrative Biology and Physiology from the University of California, Los Angeles. In addition to completing advanced courses in anatomy and physiology, I completed a thesis in the area of Vestibular Neuroscience. Currently, I am in Medical School working towards and MD at California Northstate University.
Experience
I tutored all though high school and college, mostly in math and sciences. Throughout the years through courses, teaching experience, and research, my specialties have become more narrowed to the areas of human physiology, anatomy, and neuroscience. In my first year of graduate school I became a teaching assistant and lead discussions and lectures on Anatomy and Foundations in Physiology. In my second year of graduate school I was promoted to teaching associate and was the head TA for all courses I was involved with. I absolutely love teaching in a variety of different settings including large lectures, small groups, and one-on-one. In Spring 2016, I was awarded a distinguished teaching award at UCLA. Currently, I am in medical school and I sometimes work as a peer tutor, holding review sessions. Additionally, I maintain the relationships with many of my former students through career counseling and advising, especially for those who would like to enter fields in Health Sciences.

Hobbies
I have a very cute (albeit mischievous) dog. Together we explore the Sacramento area. Because of my previous experiences working as a trainer for people with disabilities (primarily spinal cord injury and neurological disorders), I am very much in to health and fitness. That being said, I LOVE food. I love trying new restaurants and new things. I consider teaching not just work, but really a fun hobby of mine. While I am pursuing an MD, I do hope incorporate teaching in my career through teaching at a medical school or back at the university level in the future.
